This is the “study” which was done as a prelude to creating the stunning 30″x48″ original oil painting which now hangs in the Firestone Vineyards tasting room.
Watch as the sunset burnishes the vineyards of Firestone. Those of you who have visited Firestone will recognize the vineyards and tasting room viewed from famed Foxen Canyon Road above the winery.
In this painting, Nancy Wise has captured the true spirit of Firestone Vineyard. Founded in 1972, Firestone Winery was Santa Barbara County’s first estate winery. In 1987, Los Angeles Times Magazine noted: “Brooks Firestone’s importance to the California wine industry is first of all historical: He was a pioneer, an inspirer, and expander of possibilities; he took a chance on an untried wine area, then stuck with it and made it pay…”
The vineyards in the Santa Ynez Valley benefit from the unique east-to-west orientation of the surrounding mountain ranges. These transverse ranges are open to the Pacific Ocean at their western extreme, inviting a cooling maritime influence that extends the growing season and encourages the development of exquisitely balanced and flavorful grapes.
Firestone’s estate Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah vineyards are located on a series of mesas that have gravelly sub-soils, ideally oriented for perfect exposure.
Available now is the original study for this painting, which we call “Firestone Finale”, an original Oil on Canvas, 18″×24″; Professionally Framed 22″×28″.
