There’s always space for art and room for wine.
It was probably millions of years ago that some early ancestor of ours drank this planet’s first wine. It was drunk from an animal skin or a pottery jug and not from a fine glass.
It probably surprised those who first drank it; the expectation was that there would be a sweetness from the grapes or other fruit that had been mashed and left to settle in the jug just a few days before, but instead, there was tannin.
Perhaps, that surprise caused that first quaff to be spat out; but then, moments later, our world’s first sommelier noted “…a distinct and pleasant aftertaste in the hollow of the tongue…”
He went back for more, and more again; just to taste. Finally… nothing else around to drink; he decided to swallow some; and oh! what pleasure!
And mankind has been partying every since.
That’s what we do here. Neither of us are going to lecture or pretend we are authorities. We are not and do not want to be. We mainly want to have fun.
We have tried “natural highs” through religious practices, meditation, yoga, metaphysics, etc., and, no complaints! It’s all been helpful!
But, in our adaptation of the tag-line of the ubiquitous dessert: There is always room for wine. Whatever we do, and wherever we go, wine heightens the pleasure of the day, the night; the moment.
About Nancy:
As we travel, Nancy will often disappear into the vineyards, searching for views that take her breath away.
“Taking notes” with camera and sketchbooks she then returns home to her studio in Southern California and puts onto canvas the inspiration she first attracted in the vineyards.
Currently Nancy Wise’s work is showing at wineries in the Santa Ynez Valley including Zaca Mesa, Alma Rosa, Sanford and Lincourt. Very recently a new piece was installed at San Marcos Creek in Paso Robles. She is now working on pieces for Firestone Vineyard and Foley Estates.
About Randy:
I want to share tips. Where to find great wines and great deals, and who to ask for; that kind of thing. I will, perhaps, pontificate and lecture a little bit, but please don’t take me seriously. I don’t… why should you? I am giving you my opinions and that is all. Agree or disagree, but don’t let me get in the way of you enjoying your wine.
I love to talk and ask questions and find out. I am inquisitive and opinionated. But I like and respect others’ points of view as well.
About “Us”
We are crazy about wines. And great wines just about make us delirious. And we live in California and travel throughout the wine country throughout the year.
We taste, drink, laugh, eat, have fun, and meet wonderful people all along the way.
Nancy’s personal mementos of our travels are her paintings.
My personal mementos are my growing collection of subscriptions to wine clubs and a cellar full of my personal favorites!
Our site has been created to share Nancy’s paintings with those who love good wine and who appreciate the importance of ambiance as they drink. We believe that having imagery of the homes of the wines we love to drink somehow increases our appreciation and “fine tunes” our palates.
And my contribution will be to share with words and videos some of the wonderful experiences we have along our way.
Thanks for being here with us.
